A heritage museum is being set up at the Chennamangallur Higher Secondary School near Mukkam in Kozhikode district to display local history. The idea behind this is that this will help the new generation of students to get acquainted with historical objects that they have not seen yet. The history of Chennamangallur and the surrounding areas under the jurisdiction of Mukkam Muncipality will be explained through essays and articles collected from various sources. Preliminary meetings for the establishment of the museum began on January 12. Information was passed on to the natives through social media groups and messages. Articles to be displayed are garnered from students, staff and locals.
Historic relics from the region such as old coins, ornaments, bowls and epigraphs will be preserved and displayed for further study. Discussions and seminars on history will be organized. Construction is in the final stages and school officials hope to open it by the end of this month. Admission for students from nearby schools will be allowed later.
