Govt ITI (SCDD) Elathur

This institute started on 1962 with a goal of providing technical and provisional training for scheduled caste students. The institute is situated at Elathur, Kozhikode district and is very close to Elathur railway station and NH 17.Hence this facilitates easy travel for trainees. Initially the institute provided the training for furniture technology, Raton and weaving which all were affiliated by SCVT. After in 1992 out dated Ration and weaving were stopped and Mechanic Motor Vehicle and carpenter trades were stared and DGET affiliations were got for both trades. Presently the institute has a land of 1.25 acres and how modern workshop for presently working trades and gives training for 84 trainees per year in three trade including DCM which was started from February 2010 with DGET affiliation. The staff pattern as one training superintendent, four training instructors, one peon, one watchmen as permanent employees and one ACD, one Social instructor has temporary are working continuously to provided training and employment for these trainees. Presently admission is given for 80% to Scheduled Caste, 10% to Scheduled Tribe and 10% to other caste and courses structure provides opportunities for SSLC passed, failed and 8th standard passed candidates. The trainees of this institute have got awards for state first rank, skill competition selection etc. presently a good PTA is working hard to improve and develop the institute and training of students. The placement cell helps the passed out trainees to select their appropriate job and provides it. It is very much worthful satisfactory that the newly planed upgraded trades will definitely provides a lot of employment opportunity for the socially and economically back ward SC category trainees and will surely them to improve their living standard.
