Established in 1981, in a rented building at Calicut Big Bazar under World Bank Project with a Special Officer, Principal and Staff having Eight Trades. later shifted to Calicut Vellayil in a rented building having more space. More trades were introduced mainly in Information Technology area. Today The Institute is nested in its own 05 acre campus, amidst scenic and undulating terrain, on the NH 17 by-pass at Malikkadav, Calicut and has 5 self contained housing well equipped workshops. The Instiute is the First ISO certified government institute in Kerala and also only Government ITI in Kerala fully running in Solar Power. The institute today enjoys a commanding position among all other training institutes in the country. It has been designated with an objective of strengthening the quantitative and qualitative needs for training in Kerala. The institution seeks to impart a trainee centered, value based, skill-development oriented training so as to enable the trainees to face the challenges of the fast changing global scenario in the years ahead. To realize the goal of the institute multi prolonged efforts are employed considering the need for planning and co-ordination no doubt this is an institute with potential for excellence. The campus today is home to 568 trainees, 27. faculties and 26 staffs supporting them. And it brings out more than 472 young female professionals annually. The trainees of this institute bagged various awards since inception in the skill competition field. The reputation of the institutes owes not only to its uniquely designated courses and management development programme but also a team of young and motivated faculties. A group of talented and dedicated instructional and non-teaching staffs renders their full fledged support to promote the multi-farious attitude of the trainees concreting the academic values.
