Government College Kodanchery (GCK),

Government College Kodanchery established in the 1980s for meeting the higher education demands of the children of the settlers from the Central Travancore area in the initial years of its establishment has completed 32 years of its dedicated service to the nation. During the bygone years the institution has catered to thousands of marginalized and excluded in their march towards enlightenment. The journey towards excellence in education is continuing. Since its affiliation to the UGC in 2004 and NAAC accreditation in 2009, the college has got listed in the higher education map of the country. The institution of the IQAC, a post accreditation initiative, is a real contributor of the quality initiative of the college. Under its patronage and motivation, several interventions have been taking place with the ultimate objective of Thejaswi Navadee Thamasthu! (Let the Divine Knowledge (Almighty) Enlighten Us!), the vision of our forefathers. As an institution of higher learning, the college has a Mission to provide quality higher education to all, irrespective of caste, creed or gender; to facilitate the acquisition of knowledge through ICT enabled techniques; to empower the students of rural and backward areas through training, research and extension activities; to promote among the youth, the virtues of collective action, fraternity and secular thinking, and to prepare the students for competitive ventures. Accordingly, The Objectives of the institution are evolved to provide access to education to the marginalized and disadvantaged sections of the society; to mould the students as socially useful and productive individuals; to inculcate ethical and moral values among the student community; to develop the overall personality of the students and ultimately, to convert the institution into a centre of higher learning. The concerted efforts of the administration in the gone years have resulted in achieving most of the objectives charted in the preamble of our temple of knowledge. Still, inadequacies remain. However, we are not tired. Initiatives and experiments still continue in multiple dimensions.
