Established in the year 1974, Chest Hospital in Calicut was the first-of-its-kind private-sector venture in the field of tuberculosis and chest diseases in the state of Kerala. Fulfilling the vision of the late Dr. M.A. Abdulla, the founder of the hospital and a veteran in the field of TB and chest diseases, the hospital has grown manifold and continues to serve the poor, the needy and the middle class of society.This multi-specialty hospital, with a vast pool of talented and eminent specialist doctors, is supported by a team of experienced and dedicated support staff. The hospital is known for its Department of Chest diseases and Center for Asthma & Allergy headed by Dr. C.P. Rauf MD. With over-40 years’ expertise in the field, he efficaciously leads the Critical Care Unit, Interventional Pulmonology, Sleep Lab, and the Pulmonary Function Lab as well.To address the concern of increasing number of Diabetic patients, especially, a majority, approaching with Diabetic foot issue, we have initiated recently a dedicated centre for podiatry in the hospital. Big, as well as mini operation theatres in Chest, is well equipped to do surgeries. We have surgeons specialized in keyhole surgeries and a reputed Cardiothoracic surgeon with unblemished track records and innumerable success stories. Our dialysis unit is sound with technical expertise and addresses the patient’s concerns without fail. A Full-fledged Intensive care unit, with ventilator facilities, 24 hours functional Emergency department, pharmacy and lab are other unique feature of Chest Hospital. From the year 2006 to 2018, Chest Hospital has the privilege of successfully imparting Post-Graduate training in Respiratory Medicine (DNB, Respiratory Medicine) for 25 students as part of its accreditation to National Board of Examinations under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India.
