Bhaskarettans Sarbath Shop

Bhaskarettante Kada, near Paragon Hotel, Kannur Road, Kozhikode, existed here for along time. The shop was started by  Bhaskaran and Kumaran over 60 years ago and their sons run the place now.The shop got its name from people who have been regular customers. Word of Mouth has real power and hence the shop got its name as Bhaskarettante Kada (Brother Bhaskar’s shop) or Paal Sarbathukkada (Milk Sarbath shop). Only one thing — sarbath — is served here. Milk (paal sarbath), sparkling water (soda sarbath) or water (sarbath) or masala (masala sarbath) are sold here. The sarbath contains a syrup made from the root of Indian sarsaparilla, locally called nannari. It tastes sweet and earthy and is worthy of trying.
